3. Atlanta Hawks Will Have A Sixth Man of the Year Candidate
The Atlanta Hawks arguably had one of the best benches in the NBA last season. Even with the numerous injuries that piled up, the Hawks’ bench was able to sustain the team from free-falling and actually lifted them to the playoffs.
Next season figures to be even better with the free-agent signings of Kent Bazemore and Thabo Sefolosha.
While Sefolosha is more known for his defensive abilities than his offensive abilities, Bazemore is a great offensive weapon. Bazemore put his offensive skills on display for the Los Angeles Lakers after arriving via a midseason trade and finished the season averaging 13 points per game.
The Hawks also have another great offensive weapon coming off the bench other than Bazemore. That player is Mike Scott. Mike Scott recently re-signed with the Atlanta Hawks and that will be a huge benefit moving forward.
Scott played well for the depleted Hawks, averaging 9.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
The Sixth Man of the Year award is usually given to a player with a high scoring output off the bench. Atlanta has two of these players, and with one of the best benches in the NBA, they should figure to have at least of these players in the talks for Sixth Man of the Year.
