How would Eric Bledsoe fit with the Atlanta Hawks?

Eric Bledsoe is definitely a big name that the Atlanta Hawks have been looking for but the question is whether he would fit into the system or not.

Hawks’ General Manager Danny Ferry has done a very careful job of building the roster and will not overspend or bring in a player who doesn’t fit the system in order to try and win a championship.

Eric Bledsoe has already turned down a 4-year, $48 million deal, and, for someone who isn’t known as a big spender (Ferry), this could end up being the major road-block to a deal between the Atlanta Hawks and Bledsoe.

Were the Hawks to get past that road-block, Bledsoe would actually be a great fit with the team chemistry wise.

If Atlanta Hawks fans remember, Atlanta actually used a similar lineup in the 2012-2013 season to what the Phoenix Suns used this year in terms of a two point guard lineup.

The Hawks were successful in that set and ended up getting 10.6 assists per game from the combination of Jeff Teague and Devin Harris. The Phoenix Suns were even better than that this season though, getting 11.4 assists per game between Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe.

These numbers are extremely important. For one, the Atlanta Hawks offense is predicated on ball movement. This would help Eric Bledsoe to potentially even improve on his numbers.

The Phoenix Suns ranked 29th in assists per game this season, mostly due to the inability of Phoenix’s other players to move the ball effectively. That would not be a problem for Bledsoe in Atlanta, however, as the Hawks have many players who are adept at moving the ball.

Eric Bledsoe would be a valuable tool in the Atlanta Hawks offense and would flourish as a result of the ball movement and the ability of the Atlanta Hawks to spread the floor.

With the experience that Atlanta has of running a two starting point guard system, Eric Bledsoe would be an ideal fit and could transition easily to the Hawks offense because Atlanta has done this before.
