Atlanta Hawks Grades and Reactions to 101-88 Win Over Milwaukee Bucks

Atlanta Hawks Grades: Starters
Jeff Teague, C
8 Points | 2-8 FG | 2-2 FT | 4 REB | 9 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |
As good a job as Dennis Schröder can do holding the fort down when he’s not on the floor, there’s something reassuring about having Teague at the reins of this offense. Perhaps it’s just that he has a greater understanding of his teammates as of now, but there seems to be a better flow around him. This was a struggle for him though, with the exception being the fashion in which he responded to a technical foul by assisting on four straight possessions.
Kyle Korver, B+
11 Points| 4-10 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 5 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |
As funny as it sounds, Korver had a really poor shooting game. Take that incredible barrage out of the mix and he was 0-6 from the field for the rest of the night. The aspects of his game that often go unmentioned were on point though. Korver showed his fantastic distribution skills at the top of the key, did a great job at denying entry passes to Giannis Antetokounmpo for large spells of the game, and created extra space for Carroll to work in because of his movement.
DeMarre Carroll, A
23 Points | 9-13 FG | 3-5 FT | 8 REB | 5 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK |
The Junkyard Dog had a big night, as he continued what’s easily his best month of the season so far. For March (or DeMarre-ch as we may have to re-name it), Carroll has season-high averages of 14.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists, all while shooting 52.8 percent from the field. Matched up against talented athletic wings like Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton, many would have expected him to have his back up against the wall in this one, but DeMarre had other ideas.
Paul Millsap, B
15 Points | 6-10 FG | 3-4 FT | 9 REB | 2 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK |
Millsap continues to amaze with his finishing ability, and offensive versatility. He was a really good offensive player when he landed in Atlanta almost two years ago, but he’s added so much to his repertoire since. Nothing illustrated that more than a first half spell that saw a beautiful spin move, followed up by a near impossible and-one only a couple of possesions later. As consistent all-around as ever.
Al Horford, B-
18 Points | 8-18 FG | 2-2 FT | 7 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK |
Was really feeling the mid-range game early on, although he did lose his touch just a little as the game continued. Had a really strong defensive game, including a couple of great blocked shots, as the battle of the bigs looked like men against boys in Atlanta’s favor. He’s in full on anchor mode now, looking every bit the rock he has always been for this team on both ends of the floor.
