Atlanta Hawks Grades and Reactions to 105-95 Loss To Detroit Pistons
By Adam McGee
Atlanta Hawks Grades: Bench
Pero Antic, D-
0 Points| 0-7 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK |
This was about as bad as Pero gets. He seemed ineffective defensively, which is often a saving grace of his, and his shooting was hideous. Antic was 0-5 from deep and it was one of those nights where none of his shots ever really looked like going in. He’s been much improved the last couple of months, and Atlanta will really hope that this is just a blip and that that can continue.
Kent Bazemore, C+
5 Points | 2-6 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |
Once again, a little more quiet than we’re accustomed to from Baze. Made a nice three-pointer, but then seemed turn down multiple opportunities to take more throughout the game. He has shown himself to be a good shooter so he can’t be afraid to shoot in the flow of the offense.
Austin Daye, B-
3 Points | 1-1 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 2 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK |
Had less time to make an impact than the rest of his teammates, but for a guy who only played seven minutes he was very impressive against one of his former teams.Proved that he can space out the floor by dropping a long bomb, while also showcasing his passing and his active hands.
Thabo Sefolosha, A-
19 Points| 7-14 FG | 3-3 FT | 5 REB |2 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK |
His jump shot is looking pretty sweet right now, but there’s even more to Thabolosha’s (as Nique mistakenly christened him last week) offensive game right now. There are nights where he looks unstoppable going towards the basket, as he can be smarter than most other guys in the league when it comes to finishing. You won’t find many guys who like to use the rim to protect them from shot blockers quite as much as Thabo does.
Shelvin Mack, B+
12 Points | 6-9 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 5 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK |
It hasn’t necessarily always been the case this year, but Shelvin’s shot was falling tonight. Last season, his go-to scoring move was to come off pin-down screens to knock down an open jumper from just behind the free-throw line, and tonight his performance consisted of a healthy diet of that routine.
Mike Muscala, B
6 Points| 2-9 FG | 2-2 FT | 13 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |
His shooting display was far from spectacular, but Moose was a monster on the boards. 13 rebounds is impressive and shows he can be dominant inside, not to mention the fact that six of those came on the offensive end. Unfrtunately his three-point streak came to an end, so we’ll all have to put our Moose Goggles away for the time being though.
