The Good:

  • The Hawks came into Wednesday night not knowing who they would match up with in the first round and were the last ones to find out as the midnight hour struck. The Hawks will play Brooklyn in Round One starting Sunday. Finally knowing concretely who our opponent is will allow the Hawks to get mentally prepared for the games that matter. The Hawks swept the season series 4-0 and will have a long rest to prepare for the matchup. It bodes well too that Atlanta has an 83% chance of winning the series, per ESPN Stats & Info.
  • The starters look ready to compete in the post season. With Millsap back in the fold, a fully healthy starting five gives the Hawks more options to win; something they were limited with last year against Indiana. No starter played more than 27 minutes, but were collectively churning on both the offensive and defensive end. The five had a combined +20 rating when they put on their sweats for good.
