Atlanta Hawks Grades: The Bench

Dennis Schröder, A-

13 Points| 5-9 FG | 2-2 FT | 0 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK |

In his first real meaningful playoff game, Dennis shot out like a rocket. He pushed the tempo and pushed himself to the whole for big shots at the rim and it swallowed the Nets’ defense. I really liked the poke away steal and jam late in the first quarter that got everybody fired up. All in all, he is the leader of the bench and he brought the energy.

Shelvin Mack, C+

2 Points| 1-2 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 2 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK |

Very small sample size for Shelvin, only playing a total of 4 minutes. In that span he did produce with a couple of assists and steals. Not sure what to make of his playing time going forward but it’s safe to assume he made the most of his Game 1 cameo.

Kent Bazemore, C-

0 Points| 0-2 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK |

Baze didn’t score any points but his effort on the night lay on the defensive side with his rangy athleticism. I could see more plays being called for Kent in the future to shake up the defense but kind of morphed into obscurity this go-around.

Mike Scott, C+

5 Points| 2-3 FG | 1-1 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK |

Scott came in with a couple of nice shots and a crucial and-1 in the second half. Once he feels comfortable with the back he’ll look to seek out more opportunistic boards that will be a premium against this team.

Pero Antic, B-

8 Points| 2-4 FG | 3-3 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

It may be set in slow motion but the patented Pero pump fake befell its latest victim in Lopez and he cashed in. Had a good looking stroke and squared up large on contested shots in the paint. However he gets to the line keep it up because it’s obviously working.
