The Bad:

  • The offense hasn’t shown up in three weeks and failed to make a cameo at all tonight. It’s been since the Knick game at the end of the regular season since Atlanta has reached the century mark for points. Defense can only take you so far and eventually points become a premium, and it sure doesn’t help if you’ve lost your touch at the rim. There were too many easy missed layups that should not have occurred. The Hawks actually barely shot above 50% at the rim and were glazed over trying to make uncontested shots. The Nets paint heavy defense is pretty much an automatic message to take the shot and the Hawks just have to figure out how to drain them effectively again like they have all season.
  • The lack of consistency from all five starters is a little alarming. Tonight Korver (1-8) and Horford (3-12) couldn’t be productive like we’re accustomed to seeing from them. The starters unselfishly averaged between 12 and 18 points a piece and were awarded with four All-Star nods and a collective player(s) of the month award. This series hasn’t seen the box score sharing that we like and it needs to change for Atlanta to maintain their mojo going forward when better equipped teams will be lurking.
