Game 2 Grades: Atlanta Hawks Fall Hard at Home Again
Atlanta Hawks Grades: The Starters
Jeff Teague, B-
12 Points| 5-16 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 6 AST | 1 STL | 2 BLK |
Perhaps he thought it might have been more of a cakewalk defensively with Irving out, but he had problems containing Dellavedova on the dribble. Give credit to personally stepping up defensively with his number of blocks. But one could argue this was a good opportunity for Teague that just fell by the wayside.
Kyle Korver, C+
12 Points| 4-11 FG | 2-2 FT | 1 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK |
He got hot early with two 3-pointers and a long jump shot. However, things turned south as the smooth stroke was replaced by tougher shots trying to get the game back in reach. His exit was far from graceful when he bumped bodies pretty hard and hobbled sorely into the locker room. Hopefully, like Carroll, he’ll be good to go next game.
DeMarre Carroll, C
6 Points| 2-6 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |
Would get an A+ for heart after making such a miraculous return to the court but just looked like the injury was nagging him. It didn’t help that he had to suck it up and guard the King, though he did a pretty good job on him one-on-one. Otherwise, he didn’t physically produce much in terms of stats.
Paul Millsap, C-
4 Points| 2-8 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 2 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK |
Cleveland’s length inside against a player like Millsap who tries to develop plays out of nothing will cause problems. Simply put, four points in 27 minutes at full health won’t cut it in the Conference Finals. Paul needs to get even more physical and make a home at the foul line like he is accustomed to doing.
Al Horford, B
12 Points| 5-8 FG | 2-3 FT | 6 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK |
Horford’s efficiency is irrelevant when he doesn’t get opportunities to shoot. The size of Cleveland negated extra shot attempts and he was forced to spring other teammates free without cashing in on his own accord. Hopefully his injury isn’t too pressing.
