Final Grades: Atlanta Hawks Memorable Season Swept Away
Atlanta Hawks Grades: The Starters
Jeff Teague, B
17 Points| 8-13 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK |
Looking at Teague, he made the shots to at least keep it competitive for a quarter and a half. And his personal battles against Matthew Dellavedova were nice to watch, especially his rim attacks against him. But he didn’t do much else, realizing that with the season on the line, what did he have to lose by trying to take over? A good effort but not nearly enough.
Kent Bazemore, B
12 Points| 4-11 FG | 4-6 FT | 8 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |
I thought Bazemore looked to be the only Hawk starter who looked like he knew what was at stake and just played his heart out when on the floor. Did he score a three, no, but he got aggressive, he threw down big plays, and I didn’t even mind his technical against Tristan Thompson at halftime. He needed to light some kind of spark for his team.
DeMarre Carroll, C
7 Points| 3-9 FG | 0-2 FT | 8 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK |
The two good things about this series being over for DeMarre is that he can finally get the leg rest he needs and won’t be bogged down against LeBron James when at 60% strength. Now comes a busy free agent off-season for the Junkyard Dog where he may be a sought after prize for a lot of teams.
Paul Millsap, B+
16 Points| 5-13 FG | 6-8 FT | 10 REB | 5 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |
Statistically speaking, Paul did it all. He used his body to force the defense in baiting tough shots and got rewarded with a couple of “And-1” opportunities. He provided a somewhat consistent anomaly for the Hawks on offense and, like DeMarre, will enter free agency looking to receive some more money.
Al Horford, D+
2 Points| 1-6 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 5 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK |
Horford didn’t exactly ascend into the good graces of the Cavalier faithful after his hotly debated scrape with Dellavedova in Game 3. Him being labeled a villain in the matter, and on the road, could have had an effect on his game. He couldn’t do anything and was just outworked in every facet. He gets the “+” for those five dimes.
