Atlanta Hawks Grades: The Bench

Mike Scott, D

2 Points| 1-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

When it’s all said and done, the Mike Scott experiment didn’t quite work out. I had hoped he’d provide a big three-point shooting lift, but he missed all four of his attempts and his defense couldn’t be found at various points. Good job with some boards and a couple of dimes, but overall, a forgettable playoffs.

Shelvin Mack, B-

10 Points| 4-11 FG | 1-2 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK |

Shelvin got selected as the lucky participant to finally break our dry spell from deep and when afforded enough space, made things happen with a few layups. Looked to be the only one actively trying to steal the ball.

Dennis Schröder, C-

4 Points| 2-7 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 4 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

A tough last couple of games for young Dennis. His scoring has gone down and his ego got pretty bruised after being benched in favor of Mack’s services. But let’s remember, he’s only 21 years old and experience in an Eastern Conference Finals series only accelerates the growth.

Mike Muscala, B+

8 Points| 4-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

Played the last quarter with the game, and series, already in hand but his stroke looked precise and confident. He hit every shot save for a long three and fared much better than a lot of his teammates. Let’s not forget it was against a lot of third stringers but he should be proud of his individual work, even if his team lost.

John Jenkins, B+

10 Points| 4-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

Could we be seeing a glimpse into a larger role for John Jenkins? He waits for shots to be created for him and his defense is bad but he has arguably one of the sweetest strokes on the team and seems to deliver when given opportunities. Case in point, he accounted for 40% of our made threes tonight.
