It’s Christmas in August! Well, not exactly, but the NBA schedule has been released and that’s about as exciting as NBA news gets during the dog days of summer. To be honest, as far as news goes, this is fairly mundane stuff. The Atlanta Hawks will play every team at least twice and will play division opponents four times each, like they do every year, and despite being the top seed in the Eastern Conference last season, they have once again been denied a game on Christmas Day (the world is once again subjected to watching a subpar Lakers team get whacked by the Clippers). Business as usual.

Of course, there are still several intriguing dates on the schedule and a bit of news. Weekday home games will start at 8:00 PM, which is welcome news to anyone familiar with rush hour traffic in Atlanta. Things like first meetings with revamped division rivals, the return of old friends to Phillips Arena, clashes with Western Conference powerhouses, and obviously Opening Night are also on tap this year. Let’s do a rundown of some of the more interesting contests of the 2015-2016 Atlanta Hawks season. Here are a selection of games I’ve already got my eye on.
