Kyle Korver is shaking off the rust

Threezus got off to a bit of a slow start against San Antonio. He didn’t seem sure of himself when coming off of screens, hesitating or passing up open looks early in the game. That is to be expected. Korver has to get back in rhythm. That is something Dominique Wilkins kept repeating during the first half of the television broadcast. Getting into a routine and being comfortable on the court is extremely important for any NBA player, especially a shooter.

He’s coming off of an offseason filled with surgery and recovery, if he comes out of the gate slowly it’s nothing to be worried about. As the game progressed Korver found his shot. He shot 3-for-6 from outside, for a total of 13 points, making all of his three-pointers in the third quarter. Once the first one went in it was clear he had found his confidence.

In the second half he looked like the old Kyle Korver rather than an old Kyle Korver. Know what I mean? Maybe not, let’s move on. If the Hawks are going to compete for supremacy in the Eastern Conference they need Korver to be close to the guy he was last season. The guy that knocked down 49.2 percent of his three-pointers. Korver’s shooting prowess stretches the floor and strikes fear into the heart of opposing defenses. Despite the slow start, it looks like nothing is going to change.
