The Atlanta Hawks used their No. 12 pick to draft Taurean Prince. He has all the tools to become an instant impact.
Leading up to this year’s NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks were expected to be extremely active. Moving point guard Jeff Teague was a top priority to free up cap-space and also to allow the Dennis Schroder era to take off.
Teague was moved, but the Hawks didn’t wait until draft night. In fact, the day before, it was announced that Teague would be traded to Indiana in the three-team deal. The Hawks received the No. 12 overall pick, which set them up with two first-round picks heading into the draft.
The popular reaction was that the Hawks got the short end of the stick in the deal. Throughout the 2015-16 season, they were looking to move Teague, but wanted a proven player in return. Now that they received just a draft pick, it was a bit underwhelming. That is, until they selected Taurean Prince out of Baylor University with that pick.
Prince wasn’t necessarily a player that ruled headlines nationally, but once you spend time watching him play, it’s evident that he is ready for the NBA game.
Let’s take a look at some of the things Prince will bring during his rookie campaign.
