Addressing Depth At Point Guard

The Hawks were able to come to a 1-yr minimum agreement with veteran point guard Jarrett Jack. With Dennis Schroder and Malcolm Delaney the only point guards listed on the roster, a veteran presence was needed and that’s exactly what Jack will provide.

The reason why the Hawks were able to get Jack for such a cheap price is because he is coming off a season where he suffered a torn-ACL 32 games into the 2015-16 season.

Even still, Jack is a proven player in the league and pretty much perfect for what the Hawks needed. He can be a mentor to Schroder and Delaney while also providing valuable minutes off the bench.

Before the injury last season, the 11-year veteran averaged 12.8 points, 7.4 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Brooklyn Nets. Considering the rise in salary cap and it being late in the free agency period, the fact that the Hawks snagged Jack for a 1-yr minimum deal is the definition of a steal. He will play a significant role on and off the floor this year.

Final Grade: A+
