Isaiah Canaan

The Philadelphia 76ers declined to extend a qualifying offer to Isaiah Canaan prior to July 1, which made him free to sign with any team. Canaan could be another target that the Hawks could get for cheap and reap the benefits.

His time in Philadelphia was up and down, but then again, he was apart of an organization that was designed to lose as many games as possible in order to give them the best chances at landing the No. 1 pick in the draft for the past three years.

His averages last season of 11 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting 36.3 percent from deep prove that he can be a productive player in this league. Once Philadelphia began bringing Canaan off the bench instead of starting him, his worth became more evident as a scorer.

That’s what the Hawks could use Canaan for as well. Listed at 6’0,” Cannan has the ability to score, but doesn’t have the ideal size for the shooting guard position. Philadelphia tried developing him into more of a point guard, but that project failed and they resorted back to allowing him to take on that scorer’s mentality once again.

Having Canaan as an option to bring off the bench would be nice for energy and offensive purposes. Taking into mind as well that they could potentially get him for a minimum deal would make the addition even sweeter.
