Potential Backcourt Targets For The Hawks
Langston Galloway
After agreeing to a deal with point guard Brandon Jennings, the New York Knicks rescinded their $2.7 million qualifying offer on Langston Galloway, making him an unrestricted free agent. In his two seasons in the NBA, Galloway has plenty of experience both starting and coming off the bench.
He could be a great option for Hawks at the shooting guard position to battle for playing time with Kyle Korver and Tim Hardaway Jr. Last season, Galloway saw a decrease in minutes, which ultimately brought down his statistics, but his 9.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game averages for his career show that he can produce at this level.
Taking into consideration the experience he has in his two seasons with the Knicks, the Hawks would be able to sign him for a bargain price. Along with Korver and Hardaway Jr., Galloway would bring three-point shooting at shooting guard, as he shot 35 percent off catch-and-shoot situations last season.
He also would bring a defensive presence to the bench rotation for the Hawks. Defense in the NBA is a major adjustment for any player, and as Galloway continues to become more familiar with it, he has shown the potential to become an above average defender as a role player.
