Fear The Fro
The Hawks other first-round pick from this year is DeAndre Bembry, a versatile wing out of Saint Joseph’s University. A number of NBA teams were after Bembry on draft night, but fortunately for the Hawks, Bembry managed to fall into their laps at No. 21.
The scouting report of Bembry is that he can score from all-three levels of the floor. His IQ makes him a different monster, though. At 21-years-old, he has a tremendous grasp on the flow and pace of the game. When he should be looking to score and when he should be looking to set up teammates.
He is looked at as being a player who can join the Hawks immediately because of his willingness as a passer. Last month, Bembry told CBSSports,
"“With my unselfishness, I just like to play that way,” Bembry said. “I like making great reads, getting my teammates involved. Some guys like scoring more than passing, and I’m one of the guys that like to pass more than score.”"
Watching Bembry and Prince play together may make for a dynamic duo at the shooting guard and small forward positions. The two should develop chemistry quickly since they both have a high basketball IQ’s. The only thing to keep in mind is that this is summer league, so they’ll be playing with others who aren’t on their level intelligence-wise, which may make the offense look out of sync.
