A Diamond In The Rough

Darrington Hobson may be a name that Hawks fans aren’t familiar with, but they will be after summer league. If Hobson plays to his potential, he could find himself fighting for one of the last roster spots in training camp.

The 28-year-old is past his time when it comes to persuading a team to bring him in and develop his game, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t be a decent option deep off the bench for the Hawks. It’ll be difficult for Hobson to crack that final roster after they loaded up at the wing position during the draft, though.

Hobson averaged 17.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 2015-16 for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA D-League.

The 6’7″ lefty has respectable size for a wing player in the NBA. It’s unlikely that Hobson will actually find himself on the final roster for next season, but he should be tons of fun to watch during these three games in Las Vegas.
