Kyle Korver

Shooting guard is the most interesting position this season for the Hawks considering Kyle Korver’s age and underperforming season in 2015-16. The 35-year-old averaged just 9.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 39.9 percent from three (fifth lowest percentage in his 13-year career).

Despite the slippage in production, he will still likely get the nod for the starting position in 2016-17. Tim Hardaway Jr. is his back-up and could very well challenge Korver for minutes, but to crown him the starter over a veteran who knows the system as well as Korver does wouldn’t be the smartest decision.

With a more demanding presence in the post due to offseason acquisitions, Korver could see more open opportunities come his way via kick-out from the block, but either way, the defense must account for him at all times.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Hardaway Jr. worked his way into the starting lineup at some point during the regular season, but to give the younger players some stability and time to adjust to the system, Korver will most likely get the nod.
