7. Pete Maravich

Pete Maravich was arguably the best collegiate player in history. During his senior season at LSU, Maravich averaged 44 points and just under six rebounds per game before he was taken with the third overall pick in the 1970 NBA Draft.

Maravich was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 1971 and followed that by being named an All-Star twice during his four seasons with the Hawks.

The 6’5″ shooting guard averaged 24.3 points, 5.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals while shooting 80.9 percent from the free-throw line and 44.8 percent from the field. Maravich ranks third in franchise history with an average of 24.3 points per game, sixth in  with an average of 37.2 minutes per game, and fourth with an average of 5.6 assists per game.

Maravich was eventually traded to the New Orleans Jazz in 1974 where he was a three-time All-Star, three-time All-NBA selection, and the scoring champion for the 1976-77 season.
