4. Pete Maravich
Points per game (as a Hawk): 24.3
3-point percentage (as a Hawk): N/A
Field Goal Percentage (as a Hawk): 44.8%
Maravich’s high placement on this list is partially figurative, as he played all four years as a Hawk without the three-point line. Even without the three-point line, Maravich was one of the best scorers of his time.
At LSU, Maravich averaged a record 44.5 points per game, and this came without a three-point line. Upon being drafted with the third pick of the 1970 NBA Draft, Maravich paired with Lou Hudson and instantly became the predecessors to the modern-day Warriors backcourt of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
Maravich’s creative handle and pure jumpshot made him a fan favorite and a legend in the basketball world. He made two All-Star teams as a Hawk before being traded to New Orleans after the 1974 season.
Maravich sadly passed away at the young age of 40 during a pickup basketball game in Pasadena, California. Though his life ended far too young, his name will always live on in Hawks’ fans hearts.
