As we get into the swing of things in August, our rankings month at Soaring Down South, we will run down the five best players from each respective position in the history of the Atlanta Hawks. Today, we start with the point guards.

What makes a great point guard? You could ask 100 people and get 100 different answers. Scoring, facilitating, defense and poise. Those are only a few attributes, but they help make up a great point guard.

But for these rankings, another attribute will take part; continuity with the Atlanta Hawks. Yes, a guy like Mike Bibby was a terrific point guard elsewhere that eventually came to play for the Hawks. But, his stay with the team was very short and he was slightly past his prime.

So just to clear up before we get started, these are the five best Atlanta Hawks point guards, not the five best point guards that ever threw on an Atlanta jersey. There are a lot of very good and very underrated players to have run the point for the Hawks, so we had some tough choices on this list. But, only five could be chosen.

Let’s get into it!
