There’s no other way to say it: Kevin Willis was an NBA titan. He played 21 seasons (tied for the most) and spent the first 10 of those with ‘Nique’s Hawks. Willis played 753 games with the Atlanta Hawks, fourth most all-time, and ranks sixth in minutes played. Although Willis is one of only fifteen to record 16,000 career points and 11,000 rebounds, he was only an All-Star once in 1992. Still, Willis places high in many of the franchise’s records.
One of the team’s most dominant glass-eaters, he ranks top in both offensive and third in total rebounds. In addition, Willis made quite the impact on D and finished ninth in steals and blocks. Despite his lack of recognition in terms of All-Star appearances, though, Willis was a solid scorer as well. Towards the end of his first stint in Georgia, Willis frequently neared 20 in points per game and he ranks sixth in career field goals and two-point field goals, for a seventh-place finish in career points.
Willis was probably overshadowed in one of the NBA’s most star-studded eras but he had game. He was a massive presence in the paint with ‘Nique running rampage elsewhere and could be the third best power forward the Hawks have ever seen.
