4. Orlando Magic

2015-2016 Record: 35-47

Predicted 2016-2017 Record: 37-45

The Orlando Magic made moves that suggest that they are aiming for the playoffs this year, but I don’t think it comes together just yet.

They made a big draft night splash in their trade for Serge Ibaka. But in doing so, surrendered Victor OladipoErsan Ilyasova, and Domantas Sabonis. Some say this was a lopsided deal, but I feel that it was a good gamble for the Magic. They got a great defensive stretch four with offensive upside, and the ability to lead a group of young guys. Ibaka should be a nice weapon for Frank Vogel and I fully expect him to average upwards of 15 points per game.

In other moves, the team added NBA playoff sensation, Bismack Biyombo on a 4-year deal. He could open the door to trade Nikola Vucevic, as Biyombo is a better fit for Vogel. He brings great energy, rebounding, and defense, with the youth to still develop. The team also signed Jeff Green for some scoring punch, and DJ Augustin to backup Elfrid Payton.

The Magic added great depth to go alongside their young core of Payton, Aaron Gordon, and Evan Fournier. They have upside and a great new coach in Vogel, but I worry that they will struggle too much offensively to make the playoffs.
