2. Mike Budenholzer

Years as Hawks coach:

3; 2013-14 to 2015-16 (and counting)

W/L Record (win percentage):

146-100 (.593)

Budenholzer was hired by the Hawks in 2013 and the franchise has risen to its’ greatest heights ever since. After 15 years on the San Antonio Spurs’ bench as a lead assistant, Budenholzer was ready to create his own legacy.

Upon signing his contract, he told ESPN, “I knew it would have to be a tremendous situation for me to leave and clearly coming to Atlanta as the head coach of the Hawks is perfect for me.”

So far, he has been correct. He has won at least 38 games in all three seasons as Hawks head coach, including the magical 2014-15 season where they went 60-22, and became the league’s darlings.

Budenholzer was named the Coach of the Year, and his Spurs-lite game plan got the Hawks to their first Eastern Conference Finals since their move from St. Louis. Budenholzer will likely be the number one coach on this list eventually, but being #2 after three years is impressive.
