1. Lenny Wilkens

Years as Hawks coach:

7; 1993-94 to 1999-00

W/L Record (win percentage):

310-232 (.572)

Lenny Wilkens won as a coach in the NBA. You know, to the tune of 1332 regular season wins, the most all-time. He won a good amount of said games as the Atlanta Hawks head coach. He joined the team in 1993, after coaching 20 seasons, spanning back to 1969-70.

Wilkens led the Hawks to 57 wins in his first season in Atlanta, a 14-win increase on the season before. He was named the Coach of the Year for this transformation. The Hawks missed the playoffs only once while Wilkens coached the team, and his 57 percent win percentage places him first among Hawk coaches, minimum four seasons.

When the league celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1996, Wilkens was named one of the top ten coaches in league history. He is the only man on this list who was put onto the prestigious list, and rightfully so. Wilkens’ longevity and sheer ability as a coach makes his No. 1 spot on this list a no-brainer.
