Age: 27

2015-16 Season Per-Game Averages: 22.2 points, 6.2 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.1 steals.

Career Per-Game Averages: 17.1 points, 5.0 assists, 2.6 rebounds, 1.0 steals.

Isn’t it funny how we fans often take to the smallest NBA players? Something about seeing a guy not blessed with the physical stature of the rest battling through is inspiring because it shows that height is not the be-all-end-all of this game. Isaiah Thomas, at 5’9”, is a little guy but he has a big impact on the floor.

When he arrived in Boston from Phoenix, IT quickly discovered how good a fit this was for him. Head coach Brad Stevens, one of the best in the business, wanted to adapt his team around the diminutive point guard and GM Danny Ainge told him just how much he believed in his new acquisition.

"“Isaiah … the way you play the game of basketball, you could be a Celtics legend,” Thomas recalls him saying, via the Players Tribune. “That’s when it hit me,” Thomas said, “This was the opportunity I had always wanted. The one I had worked my whole life for. And I was going to do everything I could to take advantage of it.”"

Thomas has become an All-Star with the Celtics and his ability to lead his team cannot be overlooked. With 22.2 points and 6.2 assists per game, Thomas does it all for his guys on the offense and between his efforts and those of his NBA All-Defensive First Team backcourt partner, the Celtics are stingy on the other end.

"Isiah Thomas (the other one) told him: “This is the best thing that will ever happen to your career.” Ain’t that the truth?"
