2. Dennis Schroder

Okay, no more surprises.

With the trade of Teague in the off-season, that officially kicked off the Dennis Schroder Era in Atlanta. He will take the reins as the starting point guard and there are mixed feelings among fans about this.

Some believe (myself included) that he will thrive in the full-time role due to his explosiveness and dynamic play-making. Others believe that he will not be consistent enough to take on big minutes.

Those questions are fair, as Schroder has shown spurts of going cold and making bad decisions with the basketball. He is still young, but questions about consistency are always valid. AS a young player, he has been erratic but the upside is undeniable.

Schroder is a nightmare for opposing guards due to his length and aggressiveness on defense. He is also is a more explosive attacker of the basket than Teague. His superior athleticism makes him a higher reward player than Teague, but his inconsistencies make him a higher risk as well.

Schroder will be entering restricted free-agency this coming off-season and the Hawks must know what he can do as a starter before committing big, long-term dollars to him. While Schroder is talented, the pressure is certainly on for him to become a terrific starting point guard in the NBA this year.
