Report: Atlanta Hawks Acquire Ersan Ilyasova

The Hawks have made their first deal of trade deadline week. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Hawks acquired Ersan Ilyasova from the Philadelphia 76ers for Tiago Splitter, a second-round pick, and a second-round pick swap.

Atlanta Hawks: Is Khris Middleton Available?

Nile Goodwyn thinks the Hawks should make an offer for Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks. Zach Lowe has written that Middleton is not available for trade, but could his injury history make the Bucks listen? The Hawks would have to part with at least one first round pick to make this happen, and that still might not be enough. Middleton would look great in a Hawks uniform. Maybe in an alternate universe.

Why Didn’t the Atlanta Hawks Try to Trade For DeMarcus Cousins?

Tyler Sellers wonders why the Hawks didn’t make an offer for former Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins. The primary reason is that they already have Dwight Howard at center. It’s also unlikely that the Kings would have considered an offer from Atlanta, as their owner seems to have an obsession with Buddy Hield.

Atlanta Hawks: Analyzing The P.J. Tucker Rumors

One player the Hawks have been linked to is Phoenix Suns wing P.J. Tucker. Tucker would provide depth as a backup small forward. The Hawks are not done making moves after trading for Ersan Ilyasova. Could acquiring Tucker be next on their radar?

Adam McGee at Hoops Habit provides a list of four point guards the Hawks could look to acquire at the trade deadline. Each player would help the team and comes at a different price level. It seems likely that they will acquire a point guard at some point during deadline day.

The Hawks need a big-picture guy, and that’s not Budenholzer

Mark Bradley of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution thinks that the Hawks are making a mistake by not selling at the trade deadline. He speculates that Mike Budenholzer serving as coach and president of basketball operations doesn’t allow someone to provide a long term outlook when considering personnel decisions. Coaches have a tendency to focus on winning in the present. I believe Budenholzer is doing a fine job in his dual role.

Woj Report: Hawks GM Wes Wilcox discusses Paul Millsap

In a video with Adrian Wojnarowski of the The Vertical, Hawks GM Wes Wilcox says that signing Paul Millsap will be a priority this summer. Millsap is 32 and will likely garner a maximum contract.
