Still Developing

At 23, Schroder is still in the learning stages of his career and is going to keep improving as he carves out his niche in the NBA. The window of opportunity for him to mold into a superstar will remain open for at least a couple more years. His ascent to superstar status is important for the Hawks to become championship contenders. I outlined as much over the summer in the following; How Can The Hawks Become Championship Contenders?

It is rather misleading to imply that the most intriguing facet of Schroder’s game is related to the amount of potential he has. The season that he is having is quite impressive. Last season, he averaged 11 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game as the Hawks 6th man. He’s taken a step forward in his first year as a starter, with 17.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game.

He’s making 45.4 percent of his shots from the field and 34.1 percent of his three-point attempts. For a guy taking 14.7 shots per game, that field goal percentage is great. His defense is what needs the most work. He gets just 0.8 steals per game in 30.9 minutes.
