The Second Half

The Pacers came out strong for the third quarter, building a 9 point cushion. The Paul George show continued, as he had reached 30 points before the quarter was 5 minutes old. Some stellar play between Paul Millsap and Dennis Schroder allowed the Hawks to hang around.

One area of the game that really put the good guys behind the eight ball was poor shooting from the foul line. As you could imagine, Dwight contributed to that. Although he was able to control the boards all game with 14 rebounds, he finished with just 9 points on 3-for-5 shooting in 35 minutes of play.

Surprisingly, Paul Millsap also struggled mightily from the charity stripe. He and Howard combined to miss 10 of the teams 12 unsuccessful foul shots. They were 19-for-31 for 66.7 percent from the line. While they can’t be happy about leaving all those scores on the table, they were even worse from outside.

As a team, Atlanta shot 9-for-27 from long distance for 33.0 percent. To add insult to injury, Kent Bazemore had another horrendous game. He was 1-for-7 from the field and 0-for-4 from three-point territory, for his 10th game this season with 3 points or fewer in 17 minutes of action.
