Winning Time For Indiana

Indiana was poised to make a run of their own at that particular time. The Hawks did finally take Paul George off of his game as he went scoreless in the final quarter. It was C.J. Miles and Myles Turner’s inside scoring that got Indiana within 2 points for their last possession.

After catching the outlet pass, Teague pushed the ball in transition with about 8 seconds left. He crossed mid court and then passed to George on the wing. The star small forward drove to the rack with intensity, before drawing in the defense and kicking it back out. The ball made it to Glenn Robinson lll, who was open for the go-ahead three-point bucket in the corner.

Much to the delight of the original Glenn Robinson, this year’s slam dunk champion made the shot. “The Big Dog”, as he was widely known as during his playing days, was in the stands cheering on his son when the shot went down with 0.6 of a seconds left.

The Hawks had one more chance to secure the much needed win. There was just enough time left to catch and shoot, nothing else. Thabo Sefolosha in-bounded the ball to Millsap, who got his jump shot off in time, but it rimmed out.

This was a game that the Hawks needed to win, and had every opportunity to do so. With the defeat, they are still 2 games ahead of the Pacers for 5th place in the standings. They could actually have increased that lead to 4 games and inched closer to the top 4.

Atlanta managed to blow a 13 point first half advantage, and then proceeded to lose despite holding a 6 point lead with 1:43 remaining. Since the Golden State Warriors are coming to town Monday night, it was a bad time to lose.

They currently have a record of 34- 28 and have an identical 17- 14 record for each home and away games. The Hawks have admirably performed against elite competition this year, though, maybe they can pull it out.
