Atlanta Hawks Headlines is back to preview Atlanta’s first round matchup against the Washington Wizards.
There’s only one more day left in the wait for Atlanta Hawks playoff basketball. In a little more than 24 hours, the Hawks will take on the Washington Wizards in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
It’s been a long season; a season filled with ups and downs. The NBA Playoffs is where the rubber meets the road. All the hard work teams put into the regular season is either rewarded with a championship, or more likely, flushed down the drain as if it never even happened. There only gets to be one champion.
The journey can still be entertaining, even if your team doesn’t reach the ultimate goal. It can be painful, yes, but still worth the ride. I don’t think the Hawks are going to be the team that comes out on top when things are all said and done in June. That goes without saying.
That doesn’t mean fans shouldn’t buckle up for the ride.

Atlanta Hawks Player Appraisal: Mike Muscala
Collin Huguley continues his player appraisal series. This time he analyzes the contributions of Mike Muscala. Muscala has had an up and down season. He’s faced injuries. He’s fallen out of the rotation. He’s also had very productive stretches. Right now, he’s playing very well. Given the matchup advantage he creates for the Hawks, he may see significant minutes in the playoff series against the Washington Wizards. Muscala will be a free agent this summer. It wouldn’t be a shock to see him explore the open market.

Our preview of Atlanta’s playoff series against the Washington Wizards shows what type of team they have been this season. They had a rough start to the season, but turned things around and are arguably the second best team in the Eastern Conference in terms of overall talent. Atlanta will have a difficult time trying to contain the backcourt of John Wall and Bradley Beal.

At Peachtree Hoops, Kris Willis breaks down the point guard battle between Dennis Schroder and John Wall. If Wall dominates the matchup, that could spell trouble for the Hawks. I imagine Mike Budenholzer will attempt to have multiple players guard Wall in an effort to bother him and get him out of rhythm.
