The Atlanta Hawks had an up and down season in 2016-2017. The same can be said about their young point guard.

The Atlanta Hawks experienced some major changes to the point guard position last summer.

Longtime starter Jeff Teague was traded to the Indiana Pacers and that was a move that symbolized the beginning of a new era for the Hawks. That era featured the young Dennis Schroder taking the reins as the Hawks’ lead guard.

The young German had flashed great potential in his first three seasons with the team. He had the look of a dynamic scorer and electric playmaker at the point guard position. The team placed its confidence in Schroder after giving him a 4-year/$70 million contract before the season. It was considered a high-risk, high-reward move by many.

While Schroder was known to be a very talented scorer, there were concerns about his ability to be a pure point guard and have the keys to an offense full-time. He experienced some successful moments but also had his issues as well.

What all went well for Schroder? What did the youngster struggle with? And what does the future hold for him?
