Atlanta Hawks 2016-17 Season Review: Thabo Sefolosha
Sefolosha’s Best Performance
Sefolosha’s best game came in early November against the Chicago Bulls. It’s cliche to pick the game where he scored the most points as his best, but his remarkable efficiency that night makes it impossible not to choose it.
Against the Bulls, Sefolosha scored 20 points, grabbed five rebounds, and collected three assists on 8-for-9 shooting to lead the Hawks to a 115-107 win. 18 of those points came in the first half on 7-for-7 shooting. As the Hawks’ YouTube account so accurately stated, he literally couldn’t miss. This game came in the midst of Atlanta’s 9-2 start and everything was right with the world.
There aren’t many nights when Thabo Sefolosha leads his team in scoring. He and his Hawks teammates struggled to defend Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade, but it didn’t matter. Atlanta got stops when it mattered.
Sefolosha spoke to the media about the win after the game. Quotes from the Associated Press’ recap on ESPN.com.
"“In the second half we switched it up a little bit,” Sefolosha said. “They’re good players, so we’re not going to stop them every time, but we got just enough stops and we had good offense at the end to pull through.”"
That’s right. Most of Sefolosha’s value comes from his exceptional defensive ability, but as his best game we chose a night where he helped Atlanta win with his offense. Variety is the spice of life, folks.
