What’s Next?

Have we seen the last of Thabo Sefolosha in an Atlanta Hawks uniform? It’s certainly possible. Sefolosha will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and likely doesn’t fit into Atlanta’s long-term plans. Sefolosha is 33 years old and is coming off of an injury riddled season.

When healthy, he’s proven that he can still be a contributor in an NBA rotation. But Atlanta is trying to get younger. They have a jam packed wing rotation and need to find minutes for Taurean Prince, DeAndre’ Bembry, Kent Bazemore, and most likely Tim Hardaway Jr.

It doesn’t make sense for Sefolosha or the Hawks for him to return. Sefolosha would be a great fit on a contender as a versatile defender off the bench. The Houston Rockets, for example, would love to have Sefolosha in their rotation right now.

Here’s to hoping Sefolosha finally gets a full season of health as he enters the twilight of his career. He’s an extremely talented defender and deserves to find a new home that will utilize him in the postseason.
