The struggles of the Hawks’ starting lineup have been well-chronicled. For a portion of the season, this was one of those starting lineups. This lineup played in 36 games. It is never a good thing when your starting lineup is a net negative.

This lineup’s offensive rating ranked equivalent to last in the league for the regular season by almost three points per 100 possessions. However, the defensive rating would have ranked third in the league. This makes sense when you think about it. This unit is long at each position with the good hands team of Millsap and Sefolosha with Howard as a rim protector and rebounder to anchor this unit.

There’s also not a lot of shooting in that lineup. Schröder, Bazemore, and Millsap are passable shooters but no defense is going to chase any of those three off the line. Their eFG% was 49.6% which, for reference, would have tied the New York Knicks for 25th best in the NBA.

After some injuries and other factors, this lack of shooting led to the insertion of Tim Hardaway Jr into the starting lineup.
