Dennis Schröder, Tim Hardaway Jr., Thabo Sefolosha, Paul Millsap, Dwight Howard

  • Minutes: 126
  • Offensive Rating: 121.3
  • Defensive Rating: 93.9
  • Net Rating: +27.3

Now, this is more like it. This lineup has the length and rim protection that leads to elite defense combined with the ball-movement of Sefolosha with the creation of Schröder, Millsap, and Hardaway Jr. on offense.

This group shot 60.7% eFG% in their 126 minutes which is a small sample size, but, rivals some of the Golden State Warriors most-used lineups. Don’t believe me? Look it up here. They also assisted on just under 64% of their baskets and had a 2.08 assist-to-turnover ratio.

This was also the Hawks best offensive and defensive rebounding unit of the four mentioned here with an ORB% of 27% and an overall REB% of 54%.

So, this lineup shot, rebounded, passed, and protected the ball better than any other high-volume unit. More than not, this lineup played for a couple of minutes after Coach Bud would sub Hardaway Jr. for Bazemore mid-1st quarter.

The inclusion of Howard and Schröder limits the spacing of any offense. Oddly enough, we saw in the playoffs how well Taurean Prince fit given is skillset. It will be very interesting to see how the Hawks try to put complementary pieces around these players that are on the Hawks books for the foreseeable future.
