Two more big men were added to the list of NBA Draft prospects the Atlanta Hawks worked out this week.

Adding to the sizable list of pre-draft workouts for the Atlanta Hawks that included the likes of Justin Jackson, Frank Mason, Wesley Iwundu and others it has been reported by Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution that Indiana’s Thomas Bryant and BYU’s Eric Mika were also part of Friday’s workouts.

Atlanta continues to display their devotion and interest in long, skilled bigs in the NBA Draft. With Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard coming of age and not a ton of youthful bigs behind them it is imminent the Hawks will aspire to haul in young forwards who fit the mold of the new era NBA.

Indiana’s

Thomas Bryant

is a talented center with loads of untapped potential. At 6’10” and 245 pounds, Bryant has great physical upside. With a 7’6″ wingspan and 9’4″ standing reach he makes for an outstanding prescience not just down low but for how good of a transition player he is.

As a freshman Bryant shot an outstanding 68% from the field and over 70% on two point field goals. While both of those percentages dropped dramatically in his sophomore season, the loss of Yogi Ferrell more than likely being the main reason, Bryant rose his three point totals from 5-15 (33%) to 23-60 (38%). While he is a talent that will take time to develop he is a talent and one the Atlanta Hawks can utilize.

Eric Mika was one the best players in the West Coast Conference last season averaging 20.3 points and 9.2 rebounds per game in his sophomore season. Has prototype power forward size at 6’10” and 235 pounds. Despite not having a great wingspan he is still strong in the upper body.

Mika excels with the mid range shot and has an exceptional motor particularly on the defensive end. While he likely does not get drafted this is the kind of player the Atlanta Hawks could develop into a serviceable player.
