Wednesday’s group of NBA Draft workouts for the Atlanta Hawks offers more variety.
There is just one prospect from today’s group that is expected to be drafted on June 22nd. That player is Colorado’s Derrick White, who could be selected with the Atlanta Hawks’ 31st pick. White is regarded as the best senior in the 2017 NBA Draft. The 6’5″ guard averaged 18.1 points and 4.4 assists per game in his lone season at Colorado on 50.7% shooting and 39.6% from three.
Another notable name in the group today is Gonzaga center Przemek Karnowski. Karnowski made headlines due to his monstrous size, filing in at 7’1″ and 288 pounds. His effectiveness was part of the reason Gonzaga went 37-2 and made it to the national championship game.
Another member of today’s group, Jabari Bird, had an effective four-year career at California. He averaged 14.3 per game as a senior and shot 37% from three in his collegiate career. At 6’6″ and 198 pounds Bird fills out physically, just needs more effectiveness on two-point shots to make it in the NBA.
The other three participants today are all from mid-major programs.
Tim Kempton, a center from Lehigh, was a two-time Patriot League Player of the Year and averaged 20-10 this past season.
Forward Reggie Upshaw from Middle Tennessee posted an 11.2 point and 6.2 rebound average for his four-year career including 14.5 points per game last season.
Milton Doyle out of Loyola (IL) averaged 13.3 points per game as a back-court player in his four-year career including 15.3 points per game last season.
