Pick 12: Taurean Prince (Acquired in trade that sent Jeff Teague to Indiana).
Taurean Prince was one of the only bright spots in the 2016-17 season for the Hawks. When Thabo Sefolosha got hurt, Taurean was slotted into the starting lineup. He performed quite well, flashing defensive potential as well as dropping double figures on numerous occasions. He also stepped up in the playoffs as he averaged 11.2 PPG and pestered Otto Porter throughout the series. He has drawn comparisons to Demarre Carroll from some, but Carroll did not possess the same type of athleticism or length as Taurean. Taurean looks to have a bright future, and going into next season he as solidified himself as a franchise cornerstone for the future along side Dennis Schroder.
Pick 21: Deandre Bembry (Fro)
Bembry, the other 1st round pick for the Atlanta Hawks in 2016, did not get the same minutes as Prince this season as he was stuck behind veteran guards Kent Bazemore and Mike Dunleavy. He did perform well in limited minutes, showing his ability to maybe one day be a lock-down defender. The 3 pt shot is a concern but he is in the perfect place as many guards have resurrected their shot in Atlanta. Going into next season the hope is that we really get more of a glimpse of Bembry. If Tim Hardaway Jr. leaves he will most definitely get the chance to showcase his talents.
Pick 44: Isaia Cordinier
A blonde haired frenchman Cordinier is a raw prospect for the Hawks who is still currently playing overseas. He has struggled in France, shooting 36 % from the floor and averaging 6.4 points per game. That being said he is only 20 years old and he is in the perfect organization for wing development. The major question about Cordinier is when he we will actually come over, a lot may depend on the decisions the Hawks make on Hardaway and Bazemore’s future with the team. Cordinier would not want to come over just to sit in the D-League when he is getting consistent playing time in France.
