Point Guards

CLEVELAND, OH – APRIL 7: Malcolm Delaney
CLEVELAND, OH – APRIL 7: Malcolm Delaney

The Point Guard position is easily the most solidified position the Atlanta Hawks have.

Starter: Dennis Schroder

This is clearly Dennis’ team now. Expect him to lead the team in minutes, and points per game as well as assists per game. A much larger load will be placed on his shoulders but expect Dennis Schroder to excel and take the next step towards NBA stardom.

Projected Line: 21.6 PPG 3.7 RPG 6.6 APG 32 MPG

Backup: Malcolm Delaney

Despite falling out of the rotation in favor of Jose Calderon last year, Malcolm Delaney will hold his own this year. With a full year of NBA experience under his belt and lesser team expectations, expect a solid year from Delaney.

Projected Line: 7.2 PPG 1.5 RPG 3.0 APG 17 MPG

Reserve: Not Yet Signed

The Atlanta Hawks will look to sign a third string point guard in free agency. It is unknown which approach they will use. It may come down to a Training Camp battle. Josh Magette is signed to a Two-Way Contract but is only allowed to spend a maximum of 45 days in the NBA.
