Breaking down the Atlanta Hawks rotation for 2017-18 season
By Phil Veasley
Bigs
PF Starter: Ersan Ilyasova
When starting for Paul Millsap during his injury last year, Ersan Ilyasova put up decent numbers. Starting full time this year will bring more of the same. The crafty and versatile vet will serve as a mentor to John Collins.
Projected Line: 11.3 PPG 4.7 RPG 2.1 APG 25 MPG
Big Backup: John Collins
Most people want to see Collins start from day one after his dazzling show in Summer League. However, there is no need to rush him. Letting him play versus backups will be good for his development.
Projected Line: 9.1 PPG 8.1 RPG 1.1 APG 21 MPG
C Starter: DeWayne Dedmon
Dewayne Dedmon will prove to be one of the most underrated signings of the offseason. He will serve as an anchor down low. Despite not being able to stretch the floor, Dedmon does everything you want your Center to be able to.
Projected Line: 9.1 PPG 9.3 RPG 1.4 APG 24 MPG
Big Backup: Mike Muscala
Moose will be the sixth-man for the Atlanta Hawks. Playing both the four and five as well as being able to stretch the floor will give Bud plenty of options to give Moose the minutes he deserves this season.
Projected Line: 8.9 PPG 6.2 RPG 1.7 APG 23 MPG
C Reserve: Miles Plumlee
30/30 club member.
C Reserve: Diamond Stone
Diamond showed a few glimpses in Summer League but will spend most of the year in Erie with Brussino.
