1. Dominique Wilkins (FRANCE)

Wilkins is widely known as one of the NBA’s greatest players. As far as Atlanta Hawks history, there is no player who impacted the franchise’s perception more than Wilkins. Born in Paris due to his father’s US Air Force stationing, Jacques Dominique Wilkins was born on January 12th, 1960. After dominating high school, Wilkins committed to University of Georgia, deciding against in-state North Carolina and North Carolina State.

Wilkins made the Georgia Bulldogs into a viable NCAA basketball school, and won the 1981 SEC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year. The Utah Jazz drafted Wilkins with the 3rd pick in the 1982 NBA Draft, but he was reluctant to play for the Jazz. The Atlanta Hawks then sent John Drew and Freeman Williams to Utah in exchange for Wilkins. Instead of professing Wilkins’ undenied greatness, displaying his Atlanta Hawks team records may give a fan an even more intriguing effect on the greatness of the player.
