Early stat line predictions for Atlanta Hawks: Dennis Schroder
The Atlanta Hawks season isn’t around the corner. But it’s not that far away either. Besides possibly a third point guard, the roster as of right now is pretty much set in stone.
For the next week up to the NBA preseason we will be doing predictions for every player on the Atlanta Hawks roster. Here’s a sneak peek of what Dennis Schroder could look like on paper this season.
Dennis Schroder
23.2 points, 6.6 assists, 1.3 steals, and 3.4 rebounds, 37.3% from the 3-point line on 5.7 attempts
This will be Dennis Schroder’s second year as a starter. And everyone is wondering how high his ceiling is in the NBA. Well I have good news, this will be the year we find out the answer to that question.
This is the one season where Dennis Schroder can be selfish on a team that preaches the complete opposite. Not saying Schroder will be mini Russell Westbrook by any means. But he’ll get a chance this year to do his best ball hog point guard impression.
He’ll have to play that role next season in order for this young Hawks team to not look like hot garbage running around in Nike uniforms. With Paul Millsap gone, Schroder is now “that guy.”
He looks ready to take on that responsibility. Its his second year as a starter in the league. And he’ll be more confident in his shot, and more accustomed to playing against other starting point guards.
Dennis Schroder’s last game in a Hawks uniform was in the 2017 NBA Playoffs where he averaged 24.7 points, 7.7 assists, and 2.3 rebounds shooting 42.5% from downtown on 6.7 attempts a game against one of the NBA’s most elite point guards in John Wall.
These numbers were phenomenal coming from an unexperienced player in the midst of playoff intensity. This should have gave him a boosts in confidence to bring that same energy for the upcoming season.
Even after the Hawks were eliminated from the playoffs, Dennis Schroder still hasn’t stopped playing basketball. He played in the NBA Africa Game, and is currently playing in the Super Cup for the National German Team where he’s looking virtually unstoppable.
Dennis Schroder knows he’s the best Hawks player on the team by far. And he’ll have to carry the burden of scoring the bulk of the points while attempting to get everyone involved. If you know Schroder’s mindset, he’s not backing down from that challenge at all. Expect Dennis Schroder to have a breakout season Hawks fans.
