After much speculation and some detective work, the Atlanta Hawks finally lifted the shroud of mystery surrounding their preseason schedule.

The past several weeks building up to the NBA preseason were filled with other NBA franchises publishing their preseason opponents along with dates and here and there the Atlanta Hawks would make a cameo.

The always trustworthy Chris Vivlamore (@CVivlamoreAJC) was on top of the effort to piece together the Hawks’ schedule prior to its publishing by the Hawks themselves.

First news broke of a friendly at the Quicken Loans Arena against the Cleveland Cavaliers that will take place on October 4th.

Then the Mavericks released a meeting with the Hawks in Atlanta on October 12th, although Phillips Arena will likely still be under renovation. Shortly thereafter the Hawks released the entirety of their 5 opponents.

Fans will notice that of the 5 games listed on the schedule in the first half of October, two will be played in Atlanta.

With Phillips Arena still under construction, with the bold renovations being implemented, the Hawks needed another home away from home. Surely enough, another Viv-bomb cleared up any confusion surrounding the Hawks’ venue against the Grizzlies and Mavericks.

Georgia Tech’s McCamish Pavilion will be a familiar sight for some of the older Hawks fans, as the Hawks played there between 1968-1972 and between 1997-1999. With Tech’s campus being only a couple miles from Phillips Arena, it makes a perfect place to host a couple preseason friendlies.

The atmosphere in McCamish will undoubtedly be electric, as the stomping ground of Georgia Tech star center Ben Lammers will be occupied by the likes of Dennis Schroder, Kent Bazemore, John Collins, etc.

Tickets are yet to go on sale for both contests, but as soon as they do, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to snatch them up as soon as possible to ensure a prime spot for the first viewing of the 2017-18 Atlanta Hawks.
