Atlanta Hawks General Manager Travis Schlenk gave a press conference today where he made clear what the goals were for this offseason and what is in store in the next couple of years.
Many a Hawk fan would agree that this offseason was a successful one, given the current situation that Atlanta finds itself in. Yes, Paul Millsap is gone and that chapter of Hawks history is over, but a new era is ready to begin and Travis Schlenk shared his thoughts on it during a press conference on September 22nd.
After dealing Dwight Howard and picking up some young supplements to go along with the two draftees, the Hawks got noticeably younger and are in a position to build for the future. They also found themselves under the cap and with quite a bit of wiggle room moving forward.

2) Obtain more financial flexibility pic.twitter.com/R0zc4pTm5S
Schlenk seems to have done well to fulfill his expectation and the owners also seem to on board with him and Coach Bud moving forward into the season. Many expect Atlanta to play the waiting game and aim for the lottery for next year’s draft, but remaining competitive is also a priority for Coach Bud’s men.
