The BayHawks gained some breathing room in the Southeast division with a clean sweep of the week.

Wednesday night, Erie got off to a fast start with a 38-point first quarter against the Greensboro SwarmAndrew White III returned to Erie and scored 26 points in a 129-122 win to help sweep the season series. Josh Magette recorded another double-double with 11 points and 14 assists, despite shooting only 4 of 13 from the field.

On Friday, Magette shined with 24 points and 11 assists and Jeremy Hollowell would score 22 off the bench as the BayHawks got a much-needed 110-106 win over the Lakeland Magic.

Saturday night, Erie hit the road to Iowa. Free throws were the difference as the Bayhawks hit 88 percent of their shots from the charity stripe (29-33) and beat the Wolves 109-98.

The BayHawks have now stretched their lead in the Southeast Division to three games.

News and Notes

  • Josh Magette is 2nd in the G-League in assists (356), which is behind only Scott Machado (370) of the South Bay Lakers
  • After this week, Magette and Andrew White were recalled to the Atlanta Hawks heading into their road matchup against the Toronto Raptors
  • Jaylen Morris signed a 10-day contract with the Hawks last week, scoring his first NBA bucket in a 107-102 win over the Indiana Pacers.
  • Jeremy Evans was a force this week for the BayHawks averaging 14 ppg. He also notched 21 points in the win over Greensboro.
  • Tyler Cavanaugh‘s rehab of an ankle injury has been very silent. He didn’t play Wednesday and averaged only 13 minutes on the floor during the week, scoring only 11 total points and 7 total rebounds.
  • PG John Gillon has made the most of his opportunities on the floor, scoring 17 points off the bench in Wednesday’s win over the Swarm.

What’s next for the BayHawks?

Friday night, it’s the moment that you’ve all been waiting for. The BayHawks will temporarily change their name to the Erie Pepperoni Balls for a special promotion. The Pepperoni Balls (it honestly never gets old saying that) take on Andrew White’s former G-League home, the Maine Red Claws.

The Claws are currently on a three-game losing streak, holding a 17-26 record — dead last in the Atlantic Division.

On Sunday, the Bayhawks will hit the road to Canton, OH as they look to get a win over the Canton Charge, who have had their number of late.
