Erie BayHawks Flyover 3/18/18
By Jason Marks
In our weekly check-in with the Atlanta Hawks G-League affiliate, Jason Marks gives us all the pertinent details on the Erie BayHawks, who are currently in the thick of the G-League playoff push.
3/13: Bayhawks Winning Streak Snapped by the Knicks
Erie had a chance to climb up the ladder of the Eastern Conference at home against Westchester.
Despite a 29-point outing from John Gillon and no Raphiael Putney (thigh bruise), the Knicks led by as many as 10, and a late comeback fell short as the Bayhawks fell 92-88.
Craig Sword, Jeremy Evans, and Beau Beech each had 12 points.
Billy Garrett led Westchester with 20 points while Sekou Wiggs was right behind him with 18.
3/15: Josh Magette returns but BayHawks fall to Grand Rapids
In the recent shuffle of 2-Way players from Erie to Atlanta, the rhythm for the Bayhawks has been disrupted of sorts. Putney sat once again along with Andrew White.
Josh Magette had 15 points and 10 assists while Jeremy Evans led the Bayhawks with 25 points, but a 36-point fourth quarter for Grand Rapids drove them to a 112-102 victory.
Kay Felder led the Pistons G-League affiliate with 19 points, 8 assists while KJ McDaniels scored 16 off the bench.
3/17: Ants March To Victory

Raphiael Putney returned to action Sunday with 14 points and Jordan Matthews scored 20 off the bench, but Erie was unable to keep pace with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
DeQuan Jones led the Mad Ants with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Walter Lemon scored 19 while Jarrod Uthoff recorded a double-double.
It’s the 3rd straight loss for Erie after winning 5 straight.
Erie holds a 1 game lead in the Southeast division over Lakeland, while sitting in 3rd in the Eastern Conference.
News And Notes
- Josh Magette and Andrew White continue their revolving door from Erie to Atlanta. No word if they will return to Erie if the Bayhawks make the postseason.
- The Washington Wizards assigned Chris McCollough to the BayHawks on 3/14 through the flexible assignment system (Wizards don’t have a G-League affiliate). He’s averaged 4 minutes per game and 2.4 points in 19 games this season. He scored 16 points off the bench in Sunday’s loss to Fort Wayne.
