Atlanta Hawks Best Lineups of the 2017-18 Season
By Dallin Duffy
1. Kent Bazemore, John Collins, Dewayne Dedmon, Taurean Prince, Dennis Schröder
The best lineup for the season also ended up playing the second-most minutes of any five-man group for the Hawks. The aforementioned scoring trio were accompanied by high-flying rookie John Collins and solid veteran center Dewayne Dedmon.
These five had no major strengths, but perhaps their greatest strength was that they also didn’t have any glaring weaknesses.
They did have one stand-out stat: Total points, they put up 6.9 more points than the opponent per 100, which was the best among any other qualified lineup. They were able to do this even while shooting less field goals than the other teams because of their ability to get to the free throw line often. Besides that however, they did most things averagely, or slightly above averagely.
They did get outrebounded, but not in a ugly fashion and made up for that with a good amount of blocks and steals.

In the end, while every other lineup had one big thing or highlight that made them important, these five did all things well when put together. It’s also possible that all five of them could make a return to the Hawks next season, which is encouraging to the future head coach of the Hawks.
